Riding the Wave of Innovation podcast launches on Tigerhall

Amer Iqbal, Founder and CEO of 5 Ways to Innovate has produced a 5 part podcast series entitled Riding the Wave of Innovation. The series has been picked up and is being run on Tigerhall, a US based professional education platform. Their app is aimed at being the Masterclass for work.

The podcast is Amer’s response to the hundreds of podcasts that have sprung up on the topic of innovation, the majority of which are based in academia and many serving simply to promote books. Each episode of Riding the Wave of Innovation includes an exclusive interview with a real world business leader telling actual stories from their experiences at some of the world’s leading companies. The intent is to provide a practical viewpoint of how innovation is being conducted in large corporates today.

Listeners can access the podcast series by signing up for the Tigerhall app or listen to a preview by accessing the public link: https://tigerhall.com/content/trails/riding-the-wave-of-innovation

In a statement on LinkedIn, Amer said the following:

I’ve spent the last few months interviewing innovation leaders from L’Oréal, Manulife, Yahoo!, Mars and Abbott. My goal was to get a real-world view of how innovation is done within large corporates.
The good news is, these conversations have just been launched as a new podcast entitled “Riding the Wave of Innovation”. Season 1 is live with 5 episodes, here are my favourite bits:

🤳 L’Oreal Chief Transformation Officer Umesh Phadke: It pays to experiment. He identified the live selling trend out of China, ran an experiment in SEA, and this led to 2500 employees pivoting to WhatsApp sales, miraculously keeping the business thriving when Covid hit.

🚪 Mars Digital Transformation Director Ashley Walton: Whenever you back away from a risky move, think of one-way vs. two-way doors. Most decisions we make at work are two-way doors, easy to undo. Be brave, walk through that door.

🦸‍♂️ Manulife Head of Strategy Prahlad Agarwal,: Don’t try to be a hero, find your innovation champion who will help you navigate your change initiative through the executive minefield.

😱 Yahoo Director of Digital Transformation Saumya Vardhan: Change is scary for most organisations. If you lead any kind of transformation project, your first step should be an alignment process across leadership to set common goals and unite the organisation.

⛔ Abbott Head of Digital and Customer Engagement Caitlin Nguyen: The best way NOT to innovate is to set up a new regional or global offering without getting buy-in from the local BAU teams - see how quickly things go wrong!

The podcast is exclusively available on Tigerhall. I hope you enjoy it as much as I enjoyed making it.
