Amer Iqbal hosts a new documentary from Meta
Has the past decade seen a shifting trend towards technology innovation originating in Asia and then filtering out to the rest of the world? This is the question explored in The Future of Connected Retail, a new documentary film from Meta.
The documentary is part of a six episode series being produced and distributed by the technology giant in an attempt to provide their corporate partners with insights and trends that are shaping the future of the technology industry. The episode hosted by Iqbal is the only one in the series that covers the Asian region, and focuses specifically on how the rise of super-apps have shaped the retail behaviours of consumers and brands around the globe. The film includes interviews with innovators and industry analysts from Boston Consulting Group, Alibaba, Grab and Meta.
Additional episodes in the series will cover topics including creativity, consumer insights, branding, and the metaverse. A range of leading industry experts have been confirmed to host these episodes including behavioural psychologist Richard Shotton, and author Faris Yakob.
The original concept for the series was inspired by Amer Iqbal’s 2021 micro-documentary, produced in partnership with Deloitte entitled The Future of Commerce in Developing Markets which received overwhelmingly positive audience feedback when aired by Meta as part of their 2021 content series.
Initial release of the documentary will be via online platforms to an invitation only audience of Meta’s business partners and advertisers around the globe.
The series is being produced by Postcard Productions, with the Singapore shoot being handled by Happy Camera.
