KPMG
Building new service offerings to keep pace with the industry while keeping the lights on
Innovation Challenge
Over the last decade, we’ve seen a massive transformation in the consulting industry. Gone are the days when the MBB’s had a stranglehold on every government and corporate tender in town - nowadays we’re likely to see creative agencies pitching for consulting work, big four consultants launching agency offerings, companies building in-house teams and freelancers and independents gobbling up all of the work in between.
Given the rapidly evolving landscape, the answer to a traditional consulting firm like KPMG was simple: they needed to evolve their service offering to compete with the new offerings in the market that were disrupting their stable “today” business. So it wasn’t a question of what to do, the challenge was how to get it done.
KPMG had identified a cohort of future leaders who were given charge of solving for this problem and leading the transformation effort. The biggest issue with this is that these same partners and rising stars in the firm were responsible for delivering the majority of today’s revenue. How would they successfully navigate the balancing act of delivering on their quarterly targets while also setting up the firm for long-term growth and future success?
Solution
Inspired emerging leaders to set-up three innovation efforts to create new propositions that diversify revenues
How we did it
Inspire your leadership team to take action on innovation.
We delivered the 5 Ways to Innovate presentation with a lightweight workshop to help the future leaders identify 3 out of the 5 Ways to Innovate that are most appropriate to their organisation. The Leaders co-sponsored an initiative to develop ‘low-investment’ teams that work with their existing clients to create the service offerings of the future.
Outcomes
Results
7x high potential leaders set-up three innovation efforts: an Innovation Hub to develop new Digital offerings to take to market, a Start-up Studio to co-create new offerings with clients, and an Incubator to create a light-touch ‘KPMG Digital Village’ in the Indian market.
Feedback
“I thought the session went great! Really valuable for large enterprise customers.”
