Amer Iqbal delivers keynote at American Express Leading Edge conference
On Tuesday 12th September 2023, Amer Iqbal delivered the keynote presentation at American Express Leading Edge conference in Singapore. The annual event sees American Express invite the C-suite of its top 50 customers around the globe. Amer appeared on the bill along with high profile speakers including Formula 1 champion Daniel Ricciardo. In a LinkedIn post talking about the event, Amer wrote:
CEOs are people too! This was me on stage recently giving the keynote at the annual American Express Leading Edge conference where they invite the C-Suite of their 50 top customers.
In a room full of VIPs, I decided it would be fun to invite them up on stage and re-enact a moment from a basketball game that happened 25 years ago 🏀 (Bulls vs. Jazz Game 6, aka Michael Jordan’s last shot for those in the know). Risky move, right? I was expecting reluctance, resistance and forced smiles. Instead, I got enthusiasm, energy and even some impressive basketball moves.
Just because someone has the letter “C” in their job title, don’t forget they’re just like you and me: they read books, watch movies, play sport and love to laugh. If you can deliver your message in a fun way, don’t be scared - do it! They’ll remember you a lot better than all those others who played it safe.
