A Fireside chat with Singaporean Telco M1

I like challenger brands. Market leaders are often too busy "playing defense" which can make them a bit scared of investing in innovation. The brand in second place is often hungrier and more willing to do what it takes.

M1 Limited and Deloitte were kind enough to invite me for a fireside chat on innovation at their HQ in Singapore. What I found was a team with a growth mindset and lots of brave questions about the future.

One of the most interesting topics was how Singapore as a nation is struggling to translate innovation inputs into outputs (read the full report). How traditional sectors like telco and utilities respond to this over the next few years will be critical to building a backbone for Singapore's success as an innovative nation.

The good news is there are challengers like M1 investing in their people who in turn will invest in building tomorrow's business.
